Every once in a while I drink warm lemon water in the morning for it’s beneficial purifying and cleansing effects. You can also drink warm lime water in the morning as well. It’s great to start your day on a cleansing and purifying note.

You can make a lemonade hot or cold, most people think of lemonade as a cooling drink but if you simply make a fresh squeezed lemonade and put it on the stove to simmer a bit it can be a comforting warm lemonade. Both lemons and lavender have tremendous health benefits.  This recipe is compromised of water, lemons, lavender essential oil and raw honey (optional) for sweetness.

Lemons & Lavender, How They’re Useful:

Lemons are are a rich source of vitamin c, an important vitamin that plays a role in protecting and strengthening immunity. It aids the digestive system and helps your liver to produce bile. It’s a great source of great source citric acid, potassium, calcium, phosphorus and magnesium. Magnesium and potassium both help the muscles, nervous system and heart to relax and be calm and at ease. Lemons reduce pain and inflammation which cause discomfort and a tense body.

Lemons help to heal the cold, kill pathogenic bacteria that cause infections and diseasesLemon helps replenish the body of, minerals, electrolytes and salts after a stressful day or tough workout session. Lemons have tremendous health value and are a great base to any drink!

Lavender has it’s own tremendous health benefits. Lavender essential oil smells incredible and it has a great de-stressing and calming effect.  Lavender essential oil  has an incredibly complex chemical structure! believe it or not it has over 150 active constituents.  Lavender essential oil is an anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, antidepressant, antiseptic, antibacterial, antimicrobial, antispasmodic, analgesic, hypotensive, and works well as a sedative as well.

Lavender essential oil has been shown to decrease anxiety, stress, reduce pain. It was also put to the test in many unique ways. Research has shown that lavender essential oil reduces anxiety and lowers pulse rates in nursing students taking stressful tests. This is beneficial for calming the heart and nervous system. In a hospital lavender aromatherapy has shown to decrease pre-surgery stress and to be more relaxing than massage or merely resting. It’s an extremely beneficial relaxation oil. Not only that but the scent of lavender actually has been found to lower blood pressure! They used it in elderly homes and the incident of falls decreased, simply by having this aroma scent present.

As you can see, lavender essential oil has it’s own incredibly beneficial properties and when it’s been put to the test with students, nurses and the elderly it passes. It’s calming and sedative effects work well with lemon’s rich mineral content. The phytochemicals in lavender mixed with the relaxing and grounding minerals in lemons work to reduce stress, anxiety, stress, pain and worry.

Raw honey can be an addition for sweetness. Raw honey is rich in glycogen which fuels your liver to do it’s job effectively. Your liver purifies the blood, detoxifies anything that is causing your body strain and stress and produces hormones that go to work for your digestive system. If your liver does not have enough glycogen (which raw honey supplies in a perfect nutritionally based concoction) your body will produce more stress hormones to cope with stress. Honey is a nutritionally driven way to supply glycogen with an array of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, acids and fiber. This allows for the glycogen to not spike blood sugar levels in an unhealthy response but to allow the liver and body to optimize in function and heal faster. Honey helps with the cortisol (stress hormone) response and strengthens your liver to deal with stress in a healthy timely response.

Honey and lemons work very well together with their rich profile of micro-nutrients and minerals to strengthen and heal the liver and optimize hormones which works to reduce pain, stress hormones, anxiety. Lavender oil works more on calming the senses which calms the heart, lowers blood pressure and calms nervous system.

I hope you enjoy this drink! You can drink this warm or cool. If you drink this drink warm make sure to make the recipe, warm it up WITHOUT the honey and then add the raw honey in after the drink has cooled down a bit. Raw honey has beneficial compounds that are harmed when heated. So add the raw honey after you take a few sips and it cools down to still receive all the nutritional value that raw honey offers. Enjoy the drink!
