Romaine lettuce is rich in a large variety of minerals and nutrients including vitamin K, vitamin A, folate, molybdenum, fiber, manganese, potassium, biotin, vitamin B1, copper, Iron, vitamin b-2, omega 3 fatty acids, vitamin b-6, phosphorus, chromium, magnesium, calcium, pantothenic acid. Quite a list huh? it’s packed full of minerals and is one of the most hydrating plant foods in the world, right up there with watermelon and cucumbers among others.
It’s beneficial mainly for the digestive system and cardiovascular system. Because of it’s fiber content and high water content it helps to cleanse and remove waste in the digestive system. The mineral rich and beta-carotene content give it a one-two punch to benefit your arteries, lungs and heart. Your cardiovascular system and digestive system as a whole benefit.
The minerals and vitamins in Romaine benefit all parts of the body though, such as circulation, the nervous system, the brain, joints, tendons, ligaments and muscle health. The B-vitamins contained in it are great for the hair, skin and nails as well.
It’s a beneficial vegetable that you should include in your diet more often!
