A few years ago my bathtub drain was quite plugged. I tried everything in the book to drain it. I tried natural methods first with no luck, then because the tub started actually collecting water in it I took it to a whole new level. I was done using natural methods and was tired of actually plunging the tub just for the water to drain. It was becoming a hassle and I needed a solution.
I tried drano and a few other chemical drain cleaners that were left in my apartment from an old roommate and nothing would work. I was surprised that the top drain cleaners, the biggest brands and the toughest chemicals didn’t do a thing. My drains were backed up real bad. I started searching online for solutions because I knew there had to be a way and didn’t want to have to pay a plumber to take a look at it.
I’ve always been a big believer in natural methods (obviously, that’s why I blog about them at least several times a week) but I hadn’t ever seen anything that could work for drains that was an all natural cheap solution. This solution works tremendously well and costs maybe one dollar each use. It’s much cheaper than drano or any other drain cleaner solution on the market and it’s 100% natural and chemical free, so you don’t have to worry about your small kid’s or pets getting into them.
On top of that a lot of recent research is finding many different chemicals and compounds including hormones from birth control medications in the drinking water in your tap. If more of us can use less chemicals and use natural methods that are cheap and effective like the one i’m about to share with you we have less chemical contamination in our homes and don’t add to the harming affects in the environment and our health. We all shower in and drink or cook with water from the tap for the most part unless you have filters or systems within your home.
2-Minute Chemical Free Drain Cleaning Recipe
-
Step 1:
Take 1/4 Cup Baking Soda and pour this directly down the bathtub drain (or any sink drain)
-
Step 2:
Pour 1/4 Cup Of Vinegar (or Soda) down the drain. The acidic vinegar/soda when mixed with alkaline baking soda creates a chemical reaction that burns and fizzes. It burns hair, bacteria, mold, guk… anything stuck in the drain.
-
Step 3:
After pouring baking soda down the drain and the acidic soda or vinegar on top of leave it sitting for a few minutes while boiling a few cups of water. Next, pour this boiling water down the drain. It will fizz, the baking soda, acidic vinegar/soda will go on overdrive to burn the junk in the drain.
If you hold the vinegar, baking soda and hot water down with a cup or plunger you’ll get even better results. This mixture fizzes up and will move upward in the bathtub or sink. If you can hold it down so that force and reaction goes downward you get even better results.
All you need is baking soda, vinegar and hot water. You probably already have these things in your home. It’s a cheap and quick recipe that will work better than drano, or any other strong chemical based drain cleaner, I guarantee it! I’ve seen it work firsthand.
Less chemicals in your home is a good thing for health and safety reasons. It’s cheaper and more cost effective is always nice, and you aren’t flushing chemicals down the drain that end up polluting the environment and contaminating drinking water to become less drinkable over time. You are benefiting your pocketbook, health and environment by simply switching and using this.
Hope you use it and see what i’m talking about!
