Ever hear of someone using a magnet or set of magnets to improve their health or reduce pain? It may sound crazy at first glance but it’s not as crazy as you’d think. I’ve had a few experiences in my life with magnet based therapies and I have nothing but good things to say about them. Magnets can be very powerful in healing aid for the body. My first experience with magnet therapy was when I was just 19 years old.

I worked as a meter reader for the local electric company and I walked around 7 miles each day on average. After the first 6 or so months on the job my knees started to hurt each day. Not only was I walking a lot but I didn’t have the healthiest diet so i’m sure I had a few nutritional deficiencies that contributed to the pain. A friend that practiced Chinese medicine recommended that I try a knee brace with magnets in them.

There was no understanding of how the brace with magnets worked but for 20 bucks the promise of pain reduction was worth the risk as it was a daily occurrence. I started wearing the magnetic knee brace while sleeping and I felt a tingly sensation within my knees when I would wear it. Each night I would wake up feeling a bit better. Over time my knees were in less and less pain and eventually became pain free all from a magnetic knee brace.

That was the first experience I had with a set of magnets used for therapy. I will forever remember the power from magnetic therapy from that alone. A few years later I had the opportunity to sleep on a magnetic mat that my mom had. I slept incredibly well on it and woke up asking what it was because I didn’t even know what i was sleeping on. It was at my mothers house. She told me it was a magnetic mat that helped to reduce stress, improve sleep quality and more. I have since been intrigued in one way or another!

The other day I visited Inception in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Inception is a center that has float tanks, brain training and something known as the magnesphere. The magnesphere is a machine that utilizes magnetic therapy to help reduce stress, relax and calm the body, balance electrical charges and more. Watch the video to see my experience here:

You can learn more about inception in farmington hills by visiting their facebook page here. The magnesphere helps the body go from the sympathetic to the parasympathetic nervous system so that it can relax and process what it needs to better.

According to Magneceutical.com (the homepage for the magnesphere) this is how the technology works:

The precise mechanism of operation can be explained by well-accepted principles of Quantum physics and biology, and is comprised of four basic elements:

1. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance: The basic physics principle by which a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) device applies an external magnetic field to alter molecular or atomic targets in the body to achieve its results. The MRI device alters the molecules in the body with a very powerful magnet, in such a dramatic manner as to be able to obtain an image. In contrast, the Magnesphere™ device utilizes the same principle, albeit at targeted field strengths of a much lower (physiologic) level.

2. Chronic Stress: Adversely affects disease states and chronic conditions of many types, leading to an exacerbation of symptoms (typically stiffness, pain, inflammation, energy level, and sleep)

3. Stimulation of the Vagus Nerve with precise, physiologic magnetic fields produces a balancing effect on the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) and its two branches: Sympathetic (“fight or flight”) and Parasympathetic (“rest and digest”). See the image below for a diagram of showing the importance of the Autonomic Nervous System.

4. By measuring the change in the balance of the ANS, using the biomarker Heart Rate Variability (HRV), we are able to determine which magnetic field(s) are best suited to “enhance feelings of relaxation” and help improve symptoms that have been exacerbated by Chronic Stress.

This is quite cool huh? If you have chronic pain, arthritis, headaches or any other painful condition this may be an alternative treatment that is highly effective for many and worth trying out.
