Remember when you were a little kid, it was a hot summer day and you had lemonade, watermelon and doritos to snack on? Maybe your childhood didn’t look much like mine but doritos seemed to be a staple part of my diet as a kid unfortunately. I have great parents, and also had a healthy upbringing with lot’s of vegetables and fruits, organically grown, as well as supplements, herbs and things of that nature thanks to my mom, but it seems like doritos never escape a kid’s childhood, and many people still eat doritos in their adulthood.
I know that most of you that follow this blog don’t eat dorito’s, you eat mostly organic and avoid gmo snack and junk food, but please read this article and watch the accompanying videos to learn how and why there’s more to this story then you may have been told.
We know junk food and snack food isn’t good for us. Why are doritos so bad? There are a few reasons i’d specifically recommend to avoid doritos, and if you’re anything like me you’ll take these to heart. Firstly, let’s take a look at the ingredients in dorito’s below…
Basically, to decode this ingredient list I can sum it up as Genetically modified ingredients followed by preservatives, food dye’s, dairy that comes from animals eating gmo foods, and then some more preservatives, food dye’s, sugar and a hint of onion and bell pepper powder. This is obviously not a healthy food in any way, it’s going to clog your colon, cause inflammation and so much more.

Please avoid the pepsico brand, doritos and all of their companies including naked juice to avoid harming your health, funding GMO’s and rainforest deforestation.
Please share this post if you agree with this message, thanks for watching. Also, please watch this video…
Maybe your friends and family will see doritos and pepsico and their affiliate brands differently after reading this post and watching these videos. I sure hope so! Please share this.
Another thing is that when we were little, our parents didn't know as much about this stuff as the access to this info just wasn't out there like it is now. My parents fed us a very whole foods based, healthy diet… occasionally we would have snacks like this. But still, my mom always says she wishes she knew what she knows now and how she would have done things a lot differently if she did. In fact, she says if she knew what she knows now, she would have raised me and my brother as vegans! (I was a vegetarian, but that was by choice.)
Something I just found out about is ‘Hidden MSG’ & ‘free MSG’ in packaged products. (And there is MSG on the ingredients for this product as well… along with all the hidden MSG I think I counted 15 different offenders.) MSG is an exitotoxin and it literally ‘excites you brain cells to death’. Yep, it kills them. Do a Google search for Hidden MSG & make sure you look at at least two different lists because each one does not have certain names the other does. MSG ‘hides’ under about 30 different names in packaged products, condiments, drinks, candy, spices, supplements, protein powders, herbs, etc. For 4 years I didn’t understand why I was having brain swelling because I ate relatively healthy, worked 10 years in a privately owned health food store (it was my life instead of a job), took supplements… now that I look for all of the ingredients my brain swelling has gone down and I mostly eat non-packaged foods & have given up all supplements. I did find a marinara pasta sauce by Rao’s which is wonderful and doesn’t have any hidden MSG in it. I was so excited I called the company. The Customer Service Rep told me the woman who started the company has a lot of ingredients she reacts to so she wanted to make pasta sauce for people like her. I have not checked the ingredients in the other Rao’s products. I called the company & they asked me for cities near me & they told me what stores carry it. (check around – some health food stores give a 10% discount for ordering cases of products they can get through their distributors.) Carrageenan is in Evaporated Milk you buy in the grocery store – think pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving or candy, or desserts – you can make a crustless pumpkin dessert with regular milk that is just like eating the inside of a pumpkin pie in case you are also staying away from dairy. All of my intolerances have caused me to do interesting Google Searchs – found a recipe online. Keep in mind that if you call restaurant & ask them if they have MSG in their food if they only see MSG as Monosodium Glutamate they won’t be able to tell you. Legally food companies who manufacture processed food can label their products ‘No Added MSG’ (you’ll see that quite often now) but they do contain Hidden MSG. They may order ingredients from another company to make their product (like SPICES) and because the manufacturer did not manufacture the SPICES they don’t have to list MSG in the ingredients. Often on products you’ll see SPICES with nothing after it telling you what they are. Sometimes you’ll see (including Paprika) or whatever the case may be – that means you can bet it’s MSG + Paprika. The only safe listing of SPICES on a label will ALWAYS list every SPICE in the product in parenthesis in the ingredients. It took me about 4 years to figure all of this out so I like to share it when I can because if it stumped me there have to be other people suffering & don’t know what they’re reacting to. (Not every has brain swelling as a reaction – it could be fatigue, anger, mood swings, grouchiness, rage, memory loss, etc.) For me one of the items on the Hidden MSG list is Carrageenan. It is a huge offender for me & dad. Also guar gum, xanthan gum (see Ricotta cheese, cream cheese, etc – are hidden MSG offenders. See if you can find foods made in other countries – even if it’s the same ‘product’ / manufacturer different countries will NOT let certain ingredients into foods so the manufacturers have to change their production & omit those ingredients. That should tell you something right there. Something I don’t think is on the hidden MSG lists is Annatto. It causes head banging in babies and it’s in yogurt, cheese (orange & some whites), cream cheese, etc. See Carrageenan Allergy Awareness for more info on it. One piece of disturbing info on one of the Hidden MSG lists as you page down the info has links for more info. One is MSG used on produce. If you click on it California passed a bill (or something) allow MSG to be sprayed on produce including potatoes, onions, almonds, certain fruits… there’s a whole list there. I also react to certain foods & wonder if this is why. Local and Organic is the way to go guys – unless you live in California. I was wondering why I was reacting to Almonds. I agree with the other comment – when we were kids we didn’t get too much packaged stuff, BUT and this is THE BIG BUT: The ingredients in what we ate in the 70’s is not the same in any way shape or form as what we have been eating over the last 15 years or so. And what the MSG manufacturers are doing is they are ALWAYS searching for different names to hide MSG under and these ingredients have been going in more and more products over the years. Sometime in the 90’s there was a public outcry for MSG to be taken out of foods & we thought we were being heard – even though I do see it in Ramen Noodle ‘spice’ packs, Ranch salad dressing, Doritos, etc. I believe that was the time the MSG manufacturer started getting ‘creative’ & hiding it. If you get a chance see Dr Blaylock’s videos. Also the only Cream Cheese I can find that is okay is Nancy’s – it comes in a short round tub & I find it in health food stores. By the way – don’t think because you’re in a health food store you’re safe – they are just as bad as the grocery store. When Trader Joe’s says ‘No MSG’ that is BS now matter what they say. If you want a list of Carrageenan free organic food search Cornucopia Institute Carrageenan & you’ll see links come up. Gave you the keys to the mint – research & run with it! And I have also sworn off of ever eating Doritos…. so you guys are not alone. Hang in there. We can do it!

Thank you for sharing! You rock! – David Benjamin
Wow. I didn't know Naked & Starbucks were owned by PepsiCo before seeing this. David, THANK YOU for your amazing work & all that you do in educating the rest of us. I knew the other stuff & stopped buying anything from GMO supported companies, I will absolutely share the message. Future generations thank you… I just know it. Keep fighting the good fight!
I know mine would've done better too, but hindsight is 20/20… All we can do is teach our kids to do better & try to undo any damage to ourselves as best as we can. When we know better, we'll do better, right? Thanks again!
